The Future of Work AI Task Analyzer is an internal PwC accelerator designed to help consulting teams rapidly identify where AI and automation can drive workforce efficiency. The platform ingests client-specific workforce data, analyzes task-level automation potential, and provides detailed dashboards for cost/time savings and process transformation — all in under 24 hours.

Problem

Clients increasingly sought guidance on how AI and automation could reshape their workforce, but existing analysis methods were time-consuming and fragmented. PwC needed a tool to:

  • Aggregate workforce and labor market data efficiently


  • Provide actionable insights on automation potential at task, role, process, and function levels


  • Support consultants in building a clear, data-backed case for organizational transformation

Research

Stakeholder interviews — Collaborated with consultants, workforce strategists, and AI experts to define user needs and data points required for effective automation analysis.

Workflow mapping — Mapped out the end-to-end consultant journey, from data ingestion to client presentation, to identify pain points and opportunities.

Tooling review — Evaluated existing solutions and gaps to inform UX decisions for dashboards, data drilldowns, and interaction patterns.

We explored dozens of design variations, iterating through complex datasets and approaches to arrive at a streamlined, user-friendly solution.

Solution

File Ingestion + Setup

An intuitive workflow for uploading client data (job roles, headcount, compensation) integrated with external labor data sets.

Automation Maturity Explorer

Interactive views to explore automation potential by role, task, and function. Users could adjust maturity levels and immediately see impact. This feature allows consultants to adjust assumptions, refine outputs, and align insights with client context.

Savings Dashboards

Dynamic Power BI-style views showing estimated cost and time savings via interactive bubble charts at role, function, and process levels.


Process Views

Clear process/subprocess breakdowns highlighting automation opportunities and employee impact.

Results

The solution was praised internally for transforming complex data into actionable, easy-to-navigate insights. Stakeholders valued its ability to surface automation opportunities quickly and link them to measurable business impact. The prototype supported client demos, accelerated conversations around AI strategy, and became a reusable accelerator for future PwC engagements.
